For those not interested in playing outdoor sports in the cold and wet, Floorball offers an indoor alternative. While some people compare it to ice-hockey, it is actually more a mixture of ice, floor and field hockey, with its own rules and variations. Team Ireland was established to promote and further the game of Floorball within Ireland. A highly popular sport in Scandinavian nations, the popularity of this fun game continues to grow throughout the UK. With a million players worldwide, there is an opportunity to interact with people from many nations, and varying skill levels, once you begin to play Floorball. Fast paced and fun, Floorball does not discriminate, and neither do we. While we currently only have a senior men’s side, our hope is to change that to include mixed, women’s and underage teams. Young or old, male or female, all are welcome to become part of Team Ireland. We encourage spectators to attend both our training sessions and matches. We consider local support to be both important and valuable. If you’d like to give Floorball a try, you’re more than welcome to take part in a training session one night. Our overall aim to foster the sport of Floorball, and allow anyone the chance to give the game a try. We hope to increase our competition standing, and make Team Ireland into a truly competitive team, able to play on an International level. To do this, we need dedicated players who would like to continue to advance Floorball in Ireland. The more people we can get involved, the more we will be able to improve both the overall sport, and the competition within Ireland. It doesn’t take long to learn the basics, so if you’re new to the game, don’t worry! And being a non contact sport, there is little fear of injury, so if you’re looking for a new way to get in shape, and have a good time while doing it, consider joining Team Ireland. You’ll be part of a great game, and a great team. |
